Our tours are designed to let you walk the very roads that Jesus and his disciples walked, while also giving you opportunities to connect with the people in the region and minister to their need.
The Holy Land is not only filled with beautiful sights, but with a beautiful people. They are not defined by the sound bites you hear on the news, or the stereotypes by which they are typically portrayed, but by their love for their families, and their hope that one day their children will have a brighter future.
The founder and director of Hope for Ishmael, Taysir (“Tass”) Abu Saada was born in Gaza and reared in Saudi Arabia and Qatar before runnin away from home at the age of 17 to join Fatah in the late 1960’s, becoming a PLO sniper for Yasser Arafat. In 1974, still a young man, he moved to the United States at Yasser Arafat’s urging, to study at the University of Missouri, Columbia. He met and married an American girl, Karen, in Kansas City, Missouri, and became a successful restauranteur. In 1993, Tass experienced a powerful conversion to Christianity, and now has a love for the Jewish people he had hated so strongly in his youth.
Tass is the author of two books, Once an Arafat Man: The True Story of How a PLO Sniper Found a New Life, and The Mind of Terror: A Former Muslim Sniper Explores What Motivates ISIS and Other Extremist Groups (and how best to respond).
